State Sanitary Code
The Minimum Standards for Fitness of Human Habitation, aka the State Sanitary Code, define what the Commonwealth considers the minimum acceptable living conditions. Over time these have grown slightly detached from health and safety to encompass a variety of nice-to-have's. MassLandlords members generally seek to eliminate the nice-to-have's and achieve greater uniformity in inspection outcomes even with different inspectors.
