    Statewide Virtual Meeting Wed May 12: Round Table Discussion

    We’ll be having a round table (really, zoom) discussion about any rental real estate topics.
    This meeting is a great opportunity for attendees to learn from each other’s experiences.
    Bring your questions about filing notices to quit with the state, tenant nonpayment, rental forms, or best practices in general.
    We will be discussing current events, COVID-19, and the $1 billion in rental assistance now available in Massachusetts.

    Attendees are welcome to share their own experiences, warnings, pearls of wisdom, and more.
    Participation is not required, you’re welcome to come and just listen.

    This event will be moderated by volunteers and/or staff with significant and compliant rental experience.

    The roundtable will be moderated by Doug Quattrochi, Executive
    Director, MassLandlords, Inc. Doug was a founding member of MassLandlords in 2013. He became the association’s first Executive Director under new bylaws in 2014. Since then, he has scaled the organization from a core of 160 members in Worcester to approximately 2,000 dues paying businesses from Pittsfield to the Cape, and from an all-volunteer team to approximately 20 full and part-time staff plus 50 volunteers. Doug has been instrumental in advancing democratic governance mechanisms, including score voting for policy priorities and a staggered and democratically elected Board of Directors. Doug also oversees the RentHelper spin-off, which is expanding access to electronic banking for those of us who are unbanked or underbanked. Prior to MassLandlords, Doug held leadership roles in various Massachusetts startups, two of which are still operating. Doug holds a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

    This presentation will be a free ranging interview between two experienced landlords. We will cover, among other things:

    • Building processes to be efficient and compliant
    • Making connections to help you manage, acquire, and divest
    • Leveraging technology to be efficient
    • Differentiating yourself in a crowded market

    Attendees will leave knowing how to succeed and with likely half a dozen ideas to implement in your business.

    Our expert interviewee will be Russell Sabadosa of Premier Choice Realty. Russell founded Premier Choice Realty in 1993, which has grown from a property management company to a full-service real estate brokerage. Russell is president and oversees all aspects of the rental and sales on a daily basis. Russell is the owner of over 100 rental units across multiple LLCs with property sizes of 2 units to 28 units. Russell has brokered over 50 million in multi-family units across several multi-million-dollar and or multi-property transactions. Other positions held adding to Sabadosa’s management and leadership skills were project engineer 1989-1995 for large corporate Raytheon aerospace, IT director for small private company Commonwealth Packaging 1995-2002, and public sector for the state of Connecticut Manchester Community College as full tenured professor 2002-2015. Since 2015 Sabadosa has been focusing solely on Premier Choice Realty growth and community service. Sabadosa serves on the board of directors for:

    • MassLandlords, member since 1995,
    • Realtor Commercial Alliance MA since 2018 – President 2021
    • MA Association of Realtors since 2017
    • President Rental Housing Association of Greater Springfield – 2008-2015
    • The Meadows Masons – Assistant Treasurer since 2015 – Board of directors since 2018

    Sabadosa enjoys mentoring young entrepreneurs and encouraging them to engage in volunteering and leadership positions at professional and community organizations. Personal interests include travel, skiing, and motorcycle riding.

    Fitchburg Thu May 13: Residential Assistance for Families in Transition (RAFT) Training

    Join us from the comfort of your home for our monthly online Zoom meeting, this month we will hear from the Central Massachusetts Housing Alliance (CMHA) to receive training on Residential Assistance for Families in Transition (RAFT). Learn about the services CMHA provides, how to apply and what you need in order to get the rent paid.

    Recognizing the dignity of all, CMHA leads a collaborative response to homelessness that fosters long-term housing stability through prevention, quality services, education and advocacy.

    Meetings are open to the public! Tickets are $10. Zoom meeting information will be provided the day of the event. Become a NWCLA member and the annual dues pay for all 10 meetings a year!
