Statewide Virtual Meeting Wed Dec 13th: Daikin Special Opportunity For Zero Emissions Retrofit

Through our work on energy efficiency and emissions we have learned of a unique opportunity to replace one of your gas boilers or furnaces plus water heater. Daikin Comfort Technologies, a recognized name in heat pump retrofits, are looking for a test/pilot site to test run the new Daikin Altherma equipment for roughly one year. They are looking for one unit or one site. Once testing is complete, they would change out the equipment and replace it with new equipment as the system you will use at first is a European product currently. The new equipment would be UL listed for permanent use in the US. We are helping Daikin find a test location. The following is what we are looking for in a test site.
- We would like to test in a Medium to Large multifamily residential building.
- We need a site that currently has a boiler or gas fired furnace.
- We need a site that also has water produced by a gas fired appliance.
- Site will be monitored remotely to collect test data.
- We do have the ability to cool with chilled water all by the same outdoor unit.
- We will need roughly a 35-amp circuit for the outdoor unit (230V single phase).
These are exciting times because this product will allow us to fast-track electrifying homes in New England. We have a challenge eliminating emissions with forced hot water, radiators or gas furnaces and this might substantially solve it.
Attendees will learn what is involved and how to submit your unit for consideration. Because this is a new deployment of European technology, all costs of install will be borne by Daikin.
MassLandlords receives no commission from this work. We're just trying to help find out how best to retrofit existing multifamily housing to be zero emissions.
Part of this event will be presented by Dan Smith of Daikin North America. Dan is able to discuss technical details concerning the install of the Altherma system and what it would mean for the participating site.
