We are the Massachusetts Landlord Association

As we've started to get our name out there, reporters and even our own members have sometimes called us "the Massachusetts Landlord Association" or "the Massachusetts Landlords Association." That's sort-of okay, but our name is MassLandlords! We're the new guys, branded for the 21st century. We launched out of an older group in 2014.

Our mission is to help landords. We also advocate for better laws.

The Newest Massachusetts Landlord Association

There are actually over 20 different landlord associations still operating in Massachusetts. Most of these groups are locally oriented and eligible to join the MassLandlords network as a group. If you're a member of a local group, contact the Executive Director to learn how to sign up everyone at once. We want to get all landlords on the same set of services and discounts.

Some groups are not local. One of these is the old Massachusetts Rental Housing Association. They rely mostly on volunteer power and low-tech approaches. We spent a great deal of time working with them in summer 2014. We invited them to join up with MassLandlords! Sadly, they weren't ready.

There's Elmir Simov's page, like MassLandlords except the domain is all spelled out. He is a for-profit with a keen eye for unfair public policy. He operates it mostly as a hobby, as far as we know.

Another Massachusetts landlord association is the Greater Boston Real Estate Board, which like us has over a thousand rental housing members. The GBREB (pronounced "greb" with a silent "b") has collected various subgroups in the way MassLandlords is collecting them. They got a 60 year head start. GBREB's primary mission is public policy advocacy. They estimate that they represent 100,000 rental units across the state. That's very helpful! We have all benefited from GBREB's advocacy.

MassLandlords is the new Massachusetts landlord association for small and medium landlords. Our average number of units owned is 16, and our median is 6. This means half our landlords have less than six units. And half have more.

We offer a wide variety of services to help landlords. As our policy page shows, we advocate for better laws. And we also offer lots of economically valuable services. The latest list is on our paid signup.
