Lynn Achieves “Functional Zero” Veteran Homelessness

Lynn Masonic HallLynn. By John Phelan.

The City of Lynn has become the first municipality in Massachusetts to be certified by the US Interagency Council on Homelessness to provide housing and services to as many homeless veterans as will accept it.

Massachusetts will spend approximately $200 million on homelessness assistance in fiscal 2017. It's not clear whether veterans services are paid for separately, but probably this is above-and-beyond the general fund.

There are 351 municipalities in Massachusetts.
