girl at doorIt's comforting to know that even the professionals can mess up. In this case, a Coldwell Banker rental agent posted ads on Craigslist.org that "discouraged applications from families with children," according to the Jamaica Plain Patch.

The fines exceed $17,000. Just "another day, another dollar" for the Attorney General's office. Unlike the other article in this newsletter, it's a new Attorney General, Maura Healey.

Is it really in the public interest to prohibit landlords and tenants from talking about lead paint? The law against the practice seems designed to enforce deleading. One must question whether it hasn't stalled out. Lead paint has been banned for nearly 40 years. Clearly there are still many lead hazards in the Commonwealth. If deleading is the goal, there must be a better way than prosecuting honest ads.
