Cosigner Guarantee

In the past, landlords used to have a third party sign the rental agreement other than the listed occupants. This may not be adequate if you need to enforce the cosigner agreement with court action.

A cosigner should submit a rental application just like any applicant. You should verify their identification, check their background, verify ability to pay, and do all the things you would normally do for a prospective renter. Otherwise, what good is the cosigner? Our cosigner guarantee does not provide a space for cosigner contact information or notarization. You should already have detailed documentation about the cosigner from their application.
