In Good Company: 6 of 9 Supreme Court Justices are Landlords

Supreme Court of the United States

According to publicintegrity.org, six of the nine Supreme Court justices report rental income. The amounts are small. Scalia's profit for a Charlottesville, VA property is $5,000 per year. Breyer owns something in the Bahamas that nets $1,000 per year. Thomas reported owning a third of a property in Georgia, but it was vacant all of 2014.

The report is not detailed enough for us to know the size of their operations, and whether these numbers are to be expected, but we at least wanted to point out that you are in good company owning rental property.
