FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Worcester, MA (October 6, 2014) – Candidates for Lt. Governor, the State Auditor, her opponent and local House and Senate candidates will be speaking at this Wednesday’s Small Business Candidates’ Night, to be held on October 8 at Worcester Technical High School from 6 pm to 9 pm. The event is free and open to the public.

The discussion will be moderated by Raymond Mariano, former mayor of Worcester and now Executive Director of the Worcester Housing Authority (WHA). Mr. Mariano recently became the center of a controversy involving the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The WHA received approval from HUD to impose time limits on families receiving public assistance. HUD hastily retracted its approval when it admitted that it had not read the WHA’s application.

Douglas Quattrochi, Executive Director of MassLandlords.net, said, “The HUD debacle highlights the need for better communication between government and those of us working hard to solve local problems.”

The event is hosted by the Worcester Property Owners Association d/b/a MassLandlords.net, a 501(c)6 trade association for residential landlords. Members of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce, other small business owners, and the general public have been invited to attend.

During the event, candidates will be on stage two-at-a-time to answer questions posed by the moderator. The questions will cover a wide variety of topics not limited to any one area. Questions from the audience may be asked. Ms. Karyn Polito, Mr. Stephen Kerrigan, Ms. Suzanne Bump, Ms. Patricia Saint Aubin, Senator Harriette Chandler, Mr. Paul Franco, Ms. Kate Campanale, and Mr. Doug Belanger have all confirmed.

Those interested in attending should plan to arrive no later than 6:30 pm. Heavy appetizers and refreshments will be available to those who RSVP at MassLandlords.net/events or by leaving a voicemail at 774-314-1896.

MassLandlords.net is everything you need to be a landlord in Massachusetts.
