CORI Acknowledgement Form

The Criminal Offender Record Information system recently opened up to allow landlords access to criminal records for the purpose of evaluating prospective tenants.  Because the information is easily misunderstood and can result in discriminatory over-reactions, they are very careful about how they let landlords use the system.

You must obtain the information and signature on this specific form to do a CORI check.  It's not enough to get their signature on the last page of your application.

Note that CORI checks are not free.  You should only run them after you've done all the free or lower-cost tests on your applicant.  Because this information wasn't available for many years, most landlords in Massachusetts have become used to qualifying applicants without it.
