Feed a Bee

Ford’s Hometown Services has partnered with the Bayer CropScience in a major initiative called the “Feed a Bee” program to increase and promote the foraging of honey bees and other pollinators.

The campaign’s goal is to create a diversity of bee-attractant plants by planting 50 million flowers in 2016.

To accomplish this, the “Feed a Bee” initiative will educate consumers about pollinator food shortage.

The “Feed a Bee” initiative was designed to help bees not only to be better nourished, but also to thrive. They play a vital role in pollinating many of our fruits, such as nuts, vegetables, apples, almonds etc.

This is particularly important as the world population is expected to grow to over 9 billion people requiring 70 percent more food by 2050.

Improving honey bee health is crucial, but lack of diverse sources of pollen and nectar is a major obstacle.

Ford's Hometown Services would encourage you to stop by our office located at 549 Grove Street Worcester, Ma. to pick up  your own free packet of wildflower seed and while you’re here, don’t forget to check out our live in-house Honey Bee observation hive.
