Announcing this Year’s Good Neighbor Award

Each year we want to recognize individuals who have made a positive difference for rental housing in Massachusetts. We recognize a non-member with the Good Neighbor Award. The award were presented at a dinner in Worcester Dec. 9, 2016.

This year's good neighbor is Jamie Williamson, Chair of the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination. A preview of the plaque to be presented to her:

Massachusetts CommissionIf you're inclined to think of this as a funny choice (remember, MCAD will spy on you and prosecute you if you're not following fair housing laws), you need to get to know Jamie Williamson.

She's a landlord herself, and she has given countless nights to driving all over the state -- wherever we have meetings -- to educate us on how not to get fined, to tell us how the testing program works, and to give out her personal cell phone number. If you text her a discrimination question she will text you back or call you back to help.

Have you ever had anyone in state government reply to your texts? We didn't think so.
