Leadership
MassLandlords is a 501(c)6 not-for-profit trade association. A board of directors appoints or hires an Executive Director to carry out the mission of the association. The Executive Director oversees the actions of association staff and volunteers.
Starting in October 2014, MassLandlords began serving local groups (called chapters) to help them run their operations better and offer their members economies of scale. These local groups sometimes maintain their own legal identity, local leadership and staff.
Each year, a new director is elected to the Board of Directors. Any MassLandlords member who pays dues directly to MassLandlords is eligible to run for director and vote in this election. As of 2015, the following memberships were eligible:
- All Worcester memberships
- All "digital" memberships
To run for election, email the Executive Director with your name, a brief bio, and a statement of what MassLandlords means to you.
Members in other groups pay dues to their local association, which maintains a distinct legal identify from MassLandlords. Ask your local team how to get involved in leadership there.
Beginning in September 2014, for a period of five years, the MassLandlords Board of Directors has the authority, under the power of a member resolution, to create up to four additional board seats for local leadership. The first such seat was given to the Rental Housing Association of Greater Springfield.
