This presentation will give a legal overview of landlording, focusing on the common mistakes that landlords make, especially those that are the most costly. We will review basic requirements of:

• Security deposits
• Tenant screening and anti-discrimination
• Lead paint
• Notices to quit
• Sanitary code
• and more.

This presentation will not be an in-depth review of any particular topic, each of which could be an entire presentation on its own. But we will give a general compliance check. And we will reserve lots of time for questions so that we can make sure to answer your particular concerns, or at least point you in the right direction for next steps. Part of this presentation will be given by attorney Craig Higgins. Attorney Higgins has long experience in real estate, beginning with brokerage and more recently as a landlord-tenant attorney. His practice area covers a wide range, including criminal, bankruptcy, family law, and personal injury.
