Rent control advocates lie and cheat. Your contribution can stop them.

Boston is lying about lobbyists on the rent control committee.

If you're a rental property owner in Massachusetts, you need to be informed about rent control and our efforts to stop it.

The attorney general's office misled us.

This summer, rent control advocates submitted a petition to get rent control on the ballot for November 2026. We asked for a complete copy of the petition exactly as written. They sent us something that the attorney general's office said was complete.

When we noticed the petition only had 6/10 of the required signatures for submission, we filed a brief opposing the ballot initiative on those grounds.

The attorney general's office was silent until after the deadline for submitting briefs had passed – then revealed they actually had 20 signatures. This left us no time to file any other briefs.

We wouldn't have filed this brief if we'd been given accurate information when we asked for it.

MLRI is lying about the ballot initiative.

Chapter 40P of the state's General Laws already allows for rent control - as long as cities make up the difference between controlled rents and market rates. We're fine with that!

But this new ballot initiative eliminates 40P - and when the AG's office asked if the ballot description should include that, MLRI's Andrea Park said "no." They don't want you to know what will really happen if this is passed.

Furthermore, Andrea Park, an attorney, has reportedly only received $11,754 for six months of policy work for the Mass. Law Reform Institute. At full-time wages, that's $11/hour. For a lawyer. Pardon us if that seems strange.

They could have rent control now, but they don't want to pay for it. They want you to instead.

Here's how you can help.

1. Spread the word: Rent control doesn't work.

We tried rent control in Massachusetts. It didn't work. The people who needed the most help didn't get it, and the people who never needed rent control in the first place benefited.

Buildings fell into disrepair or were abandoned totally. Availability dropped.

There's a reason we voted it out. We need to make sure it doesn't come back.

We created rentcontrolhistory.com so everyone can learn about what rent control was really like. Please share this link.

Rent control doesn't do what everyone thinks it does. Learn the truth.

2. Donate to support property rights.

  • No matter how our lawsuit turns out, advocates are pushing rent control to the ballot in 2026.
  • We can fight this, but it's not going to be cheap.
  • Allocating just 1% of your monthly rent receipts will help us campaign against rent control. We've kept rent control in the past so far, but we'll need to fight to do it again.

Don’t wait to take a stand with us. Become a property rights supporter today.

Don't leave the future of rental housing up to the legislature. Help us fight!
