Cambridge Tues 3-20: Making Communication Work with Tenants, Contractors, and Everyone Else; Up to $250,000 in Energy Upgrades for up to 90% Off

Part I: For "Up to $250,000 in Energy Upgrades for up to 90% Off,", we'll be reviewing MassSave and the incentives available to owners and managers of rental properties. This savings are funded by surcharges on all utility bills in the Commonwealth. It's possible to get insulation for 90% off, new boilers or furnaces if your equipment is 30 years old, free weatherstripping, free LED light bulbs, free aerators, and much, much more. Program details are always changing so come to this event to find out what will work for you.

Unfortunately, we booked the local utility companies far in advance, but neglected to tell them when we rescheduled this event series to the third Tuesday. They can't come. This segment will therefore be presented by MassLandlords Executive Director Doug Quattrochi based on identical presentations given at other locations.

Making Communication Work

Part II: At your breaking point over tough tenancy issues? Unable even to talk with your tenant about the back rent? Powerless to exercise your rights until eviction is unavoidable and lawyers are needed? As attractive and profitable as landlording may be, tenant conflict can bring us to the boiling point! Although much can be done to avoid the crisis point with tenants, your profits AND peace of mind may vanish if communication breaks down!

In this segment, we'll cover the in’s and out’s of handling difficult tenant situations. Audience participation is encouraged but not required. We'll hear some of your landlord war stories and teach what it takes not only to avoid unnecessary fighting but also to get your way when tenants want to stop you at every step.

This segment will be presented by Peter Shapiro, author of The Good Landlord – A Guide to Making a Profit While Making a Difference. Peter delivers lively powerpoint presentations, discussion, and participation exercises.

Have you seen our Leave Stuff, Take Stuff Table?

Market your business, pick up handouts, give away an old doorknob. Everything goes on our first-come, first-served display table at all our events. Please bring business cards, brochures, coupons. And feel free to pick up your own uncollected marketing materials at the end. Everything not claimed end-of-night may be chucked.
